(And they were probably open to new ideas, since Strauss himself completely re-wrote the piece for France, as &quot;La tzigane&quot;. So there is room for updates/alterations.) But whatever you do with this operetta, it should sparkle and shine, entertain and be fun. For me, the new Berlin version was just boring most of the time. And there was no vocal magic.... anywhere.]]></description>
