I had a look at "Which is the gayest operetta character." I recall reading in a review from the Westminster archive which stated that the operetta audience was maids on their day off, lusting after the romantic lead. Perhaps a gay audience member has the same requirements?

I recall a lengthy discussion in Hans Dieter Roser's essay on cross dressing where he suggested lesbian connotations in all of the Suppe operettas (Boccaccio, Fatinitza etc.) where there are mezzo soprano roles. Does that mean Boccaccio could qualify as my favorite lesbian operetta?
