One point about Pablo Luna’s ‘Molinos de viento’: the sailors accompanying Captain Alberto are not Spanish – the English crown prince Albert (for it is he!) is being accompanied abroad by the *British* Royal Navy, as the libretto makes clear. I quite agree, though, that the passionate music Luna writes for his hero is more Viennese and “Mediterranean” than English in feeling. It is a very Italianate score, with some English and Viennese features … but somehow, wholly Spanish.
