Yes, there is going to be another one: The Musikalische Komödie will present the Ralph Benatzky/Erik Charell “Singspiel” Im weißen Rössl in a new production on 25 October, 2015. It will be the festive opening of the musical and operetta season.
What better way to open such a season than with a show that happily combines the best of both worlds, at least it did in its original 1930 version. The press release of the Musikalische Komödie does not state, however, whether the recently reconstructed jazz version will be played, or whether the “standard” 1950s version will be performed – or maybe even the chamber version from 1994/Bar jeder Vernunft. It seems such details are not important in Saxony, as long as the show title has a “ring” to it and audiences can sing along. (In this case, Germans certainly can.)
The staging of this new version is by Volker Vogel, scenery and costumes are by Alexander Mudlagk. The musical side of the production is in the hands of Tobias Engeli.
The two actors on the photo are Nora Lentner as Josepha and Andreas Rainer as head-waiter Leopold. For more information, click here.
